Our project at Nunton Drove is for a sensitive redevelopment and renovation of a 1960s bungalow to form a contemporary chalet style family home. Located in an ANOB and along a road with predominantly bungalows the design had to deal with several potential overlooking issues as well ensuring a high quality design.
The existing ground floor is proposed to be reconfigured to better suit a contemporary family lifestyle. The existing conservatory, link attached garage and utility will be removed allowing for new extensions to create new garage and utility, open plan kitchen dining space and a new vaulted living room. The main entrance is to be moved to a central position allowing for a new staircase and feature double height entrance hall.
The proposal also includes the formation of a new first floor with a raised roof to provide adequate clearance to the four bedrooms whilst ensuring the new roof height does not negatively impact on neighbouring properties.
Aesthetically the exterior has been designed as a contemporary take on a more traditional chalet style house, with traditional materials and Oak framed porch off-set by the contemporary glazing features. Existing brickwork is to be rendered with timber cladding to elements at first floor such as the gable ends and dormer cheeks.
Planning permission was granted in January 2019, with work on site scheduled to start in March 2019.
